WVU Extension Agent –
Families & Health, Berkeley County
After 16 years of teaching family and consumer sciences classes in West Virginia and North Carolina public schools, Sue Flanagan left the education field to work as a presenter for Taste of Home Cooking Schools, serving eight states.
While at Taste of Home, Sue preformed around 40 live cooking demonstrations each year. She often spoke for audiences of anywhere from 500 – 1,500 guests. Sue would later find her cooking demonstrations to be helpful in her next role with the West Virginia University Extension Service.
It was 2004 when Sue’s work force combined her background of education and demonstration when she took a role as an Extension agent at WVU’s Berkeley County Extension Office. Sue serves as the county’s families and health agent. Her primary focus is on matching the community’s health and education needs with local, state, university and national resources.
Sue works hard to promote leadership development and health education in the area she serves.
Sue received her bachelor’s of arts in education from Fairmont State University. She earned her master’s of science in vocational and technical education from Marshall University.
