Each year, hundreds of our faculty, staff, volunteers and 4-H’ers make a trip to the West Virginia State Capitol Building in Charleston for WVU & WVU Extension Day at the Legislature.

This one-day event takes place on Tuesday, February 23 and provides WVU and WVU Extension Service the opportunity to highlight their programs in Morgantown and across the state, recruit potential students, and reconnect with alumni in the area.

In fact, WVU Day at the Legislature attracts more than 500 people from WVU Extension programs who come from throughout the state to both support and learn more about WVU.

During each regular legislative session, WVU Extension volunteers and supporters from throughout the state drive to the Capitol to be part of WVU& WVU Extension Day at the Legislature.

Besides calling the annual event educational, legislators and participants describe the day as being filled with enthusiasm and excitement.

Last year, WVU filled the upper and lower Capitol rotundas with more than 40 exhibits highlighting departments, programs, people, and the many ways WVU serves the state. As the hosts for this event, WVU Extension plans to revamp some of our activities for our 4-H’ers, making it a “new” event for some of our returning guests.

In addition, 4-H’ers, Master Gardeners, CEOS members, volunteers and community members can:

see the state’s beautiful capitol building. For many of our younger guests, this is the first time to see the Capitol up-close-and personal.
hear guest speakers talk about the importance of education, the impact that Extension programs had on their lives, and the importance of following your dreams.
connect with their legislators by setting up an appointment with him or her prior to the event.

Registration deadline is February 15. WVU Extension will continue to provide updates to the Web site as speakers and activities are finalized.
